OK, I have heard this one so many times I want to be sick.
Of course nobody has enough money for gym; we are busy spending it all on booze, ciggarettes, junk food, comfy chairs and Monty Python DVDs...(ok maybe thats just me).
But seriously, lets get our priorities straight.
If you are not exercising in your own home gym then you should be looking at a gym membership.
There are plenty of independent gyms around if the bigger chains do not appeal to you. A quick reveiew of some independant gyms in and around the eastern cape revealed that for under R200 per month you could enjoy all facilities ordinarilly associated wioth the bigger chains.
And please can everyone stop complaining about “contracts”. Admittedly you may not want to spend enormous amounts of cash on an up-front payment but do begrudge the gym owner for asking for a commitment from you.
For a 1000 square meter gym, a gym owner may need need to spend up to R1 million Rand on equipment and commit to a lengthy lease with a landlord in order to supply good facilities such as pools, squash courts and acceptable change room facilities.
For reference purposes here are some prices for Gyms and related services in the USA
- Personal training up to R400 per 30 minute personal training sessions
- Monthly gym membership at the Chicago east bank Club R1275 (oh yes after the R3750 joining fee)
So, stop eating rubbish, stop complaining and get your yourself into shape now.
